ESWATINI SOUTH AFRICA - SUMMER 2024
Completely surrounded by South Africa, the Kingdom of Eswatini is one of the few remaining countries with an absolute monarchy. Among the country's many challenges, AIDS has become a defining marker leading to a rise in rural poverty and orphan neglect. Christianity, in most churches, is syncretic (blended with tribal beliefs and practices) muddying the gospel and making it paper thin. Our team joined with a group of local pastors who have committed to revitalizing the countryside with the gospel alongside Adventure Soccer. Every day, we visited a different church plant and hosted Gospel Rallies for kids and students. As we divided everyone into different groups, they would rotate through stations hearing the gospel message of Jesus Christ. At each rally the local pastors gave an invitation to respond to the gospel and to connect with their local church. By the end of the week we had passed out 600 flashlights and cinch bags for the kids/teens to have over the winter. Our time also included homestead visits where we handed out food and clothing, helping with Sunday kids church, and a preschool and orphanage visit. Simply put, it was AMAZING!! - Supporting the local churches' efforts in proclaiming the gospel and making disciples!
