Serving

In the church, community, and world

SCROLL DOWN

Serving

In the church, community, and world

Jesus calls His followers to “Go make disciples of all the nations”. That means action. At SCC it means using our abilities to serve Christ’s mission wherever we are, starting right at SCC, moving out into our local area, and internationally. We bring the gospel in words and in deeds, both sharing and showing Christ’s love.

It takes a lot of people to make ministries happen at SCC. The great thing is that God has equipped His people to SERVE! We each have God-given gifts and talents for the purpose of serving others. Find out how you can do that at SCC. Follow the links below for more info.

serving In the Community

serving In the Community

Jesus' call to His followers to “Go make disciples” starts right next door, and you don’t need a passport! The gospel changes lives. We start with loving our own neighbors like Christ loved us. And then we work with other local ministries, nonprofits, schools, and cities to let the gospel and its redemptive results transform our community.

We serve in practical hands-on ways in our cities in simple ways like cleaning up parks and helping out at schools, and caring for our immediate neighbors. We partner with local agencies to address deeper problems like homelessness, hunger, stressed marriages, and more.

Fall Food Drive

Starts November 3, 2019

We are so blessed to live in this community and that is enough to be thankful for. But did you know hundreds of families in Snohomish alone won’t have what it takes for a warm breakfast on Thanksgiving, let alone a Thanksgiving meal?

Snohomish Community Church is partnering with the Snohomish Food Bank to provide 280 cans of each: peas/corn/green beans to help families in need this Thanksgiving. Please bring donations to the missions area in the lobby Nov 3-17. Thank you for blessing those in the community!

Talk Time

Web Graphic Talk Time.jpg

Talk Time through Bridges International, is a caring community of Christ-followers committed to serve, promote social connections and engage in spiritual conversations with international students with the goal that each international student would have an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.

International students from Everett Community College come for dinner, conversation and games, allowing them to make American friends and practice English and a fun opportunity for the volunteers to make friendships and be able to share Jesus with them as they build a friendship.

Talk Time meets Thursday nights at Bethel Baptist Church, Everett 6-8:30pm. If you're interested in volunteering and for more information contact Barb Whitehouse 407-968-4524 or Barb.whitehouse@bridgesinternational.com.

We had a great time May 4, 2019 at our annual outreach event. We (and other local churches), partnered with the City of Snohomish and the school district, showing practical love for our city by working at various weeding and landscaping projects.

Operation Christmas Child (OCC)

Starts November 3, 2019

WEB OCC slide .jpg

One of our favorite events of the year!

New to OCC? Here's how it works...

  • Get a shoebox from the lobby starting Nov 3, and fill it with small gifts etc. (there will be information there with guidelines and ideas if you need help).

  • The final collection date at SCC is Nov 24.

  • From there, these boxes are sent (along with the gospel message) to boys and girls all around the world.

For more information about this life-changing program, check out the Samaratin's Purse website here.

Our world population is over 7 billion. The majority have no church nearby, and most have never had a clear hearing of the gospel. So Jesus SENDS us, His disciples to GOWe GO by sending long-term missionary partners to plant churches and develop leaders in those cultures. We GO by short-term missions trips. We also GO by addressing devastating problems of our world, like poverty and human trafficking.
