Inspired by Luke 2:28-32 and “Do You Hear What I Hear”

Biggs Department Store, owned by Simeon Biggs is getting ready for a BIG Christmas window display. Every year, Mr. Biggs presents a big contest to see which of his employees will come up with the winning display based on a series of clues he presents to them.

This Christmas, Simeon holds the contest with a certain urgency, as he is slowly losing his eyesight. Not wanting to upset his employees or influence them in any way with his medical issues, he chooses to withhold the true nature of his condition for the duration of the contest.  He is hoping that his employees will experience Christmas in such a BIG way, that they will: hear what he hears, see what he sees, and know what he knows in his heart.

Adding to the confusion, Simeon has a new assistant to help him in the judging of the contest, and her mere presence brings a lot of speculation as to the “real” reason she is present.

His long-time store manager, Ames, is responsible for dispensing the clues, and frequently, something gets lost in translation. As a result, Team Kringle, Team Yeti, and Team Gift Wrap come up with some BIG hilarious displays that are not what Mr. Biggs is looking for. Simeon is kind in his response, but he continues to hold out hope that they will at some point “hear it, see it, and know it.”

Simeon Biggs, on Simeon of the bible:

“So there's this old guy in the bible, named Simeon, who was faithful to God and he believed the promises of God, that the Savior was coming. A lot of people kinda forgot about God, but not Simeon. Nope, he was patient. God even told him, that he would not die until he saw, with his own eyes, the Christ, the messiah.  His whole life, he was watching, and waiting, knowing that one day He would really see. And boy did he ever! He was standing in the temple one day, when he saw the Christ child! Simeon took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, "Lord, now let your servant depart in peace. As you have promised, I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people."
